Nova Residential Development, Douglas Street, Mooloolaba

An eight story residential apartment development over a two level basement carpark situated in beautiful Mooloolaba on the glorious Sunshine Coast.

MDA were the consultants for mechanical, electrical and lift design.

Mechanical consisted of individual ventilation and exhaust systems to meet technical, statutory and other requirements. These included the carpark, plant & equipment room and all toilet areas. Each apartment was supplied with individual split systems which were ducted and condenser units were allocated on each floor.

Electrical services consisted of connection to the supply authority and consumer mains, design of the main switchboard and house metering, submains to riser distribution switchboards, mechanical services equipment, hydraulic services and lift services. Power and permanently connected outlets to all building common areas with adequate power outlets to apartments in line with interior furniture concepts. Additionally, smoke and thermal alarms as required to meet BCA.

Lighting generally consisted of LED and compact florescent to meet BCA requirements. Specialist lighting to entry and corridor and landscape lighting to planter beds and pathways.  Feature interior lighting to building entries and public spaces along with security lighting to building public and common areas.

Communication and alarm systems were designed to include Telecom cabling to each unit, head end multi-channel MATV system suitable for off air or on air TV transmissions and provision for satellite and cable television. Other objectives were TV outlets in all rooms as required, and internet ADSL connection to each unit. Smoke and thermal alarms to meet BCA and a building evacuation system.

Performance modelling and advice to client on lift configurations and options and provision of shaft and LMR space planning sizes to suit industry standard configurations to enable competitive tenders from all major lift suppliers.
