Canungra Range Control Works, Kokoda Barracks

Project:        Canungra Range Control Works, Kokoda Barracks
Client:           CV Services Group
Architect:   Conrad Gargett

The base is home to the Defence Intelligence Training Centre and the Australian Army Land Warfare Centre.  It has a substantial transient population due to the extensive ongoing training courses.

Located a short drive from the Gold Coast, this is where officers and soldiers in the Australian Army Intelligence Corps complete their initial employment training, and all-corps training is conducted throughout officer and soldier careers.

Kokoda Barracks is located in the upper Coomera River Valley between the Darlington and Beechmont Ranges and was established in 1942 for Army jungle warfare and infantry training.  It was closed from 1948 – 1954 and reactivated during the Vietnam War (60’s and 70’s).

The Range Control Works project involved the design and construct of a new prefabricated modular system conference room facility, for a maximum of 20 people, including a new communications rack, external breakout area with kitchenette and self-standing pathways inclusive of stairs and ramp.

CV Services engaged MDA Consulting Engineers to provide Hydraulic Services design components for the project.
