Established in 1989, MDA Consulting Engineers is a leading multi-discipline building services and engineering consultancy with offices in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. We are a group of professionals working together to provide a full spectrum of specialist mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire protection and vertical transportation engineering services.
We also offer consulting services associated with new environmental requirements such as NCC Section J, Energy Star Rating and Green Star. We actively look at alternative options to enhance projects by incorporating advanced technologies to reduce your building’s carbon footprint.

NSW Design Certification
NSW Design Certification came into effect from July 2020.
Engineers are required to be Registered to certify their designs.
Building certification is required under Section 6 of the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018.
MDA hold Registration for Hydraulic (Building), Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (Registration Number BDC3424).
Class 2 Buildings
Effective from July 2021, the Design & Building Practitioners Act & Regulations took effect in NSW.
This means that all designs require a Design Compliance Declaration made by a Registered Design Practitioner and lodged on the NSW Planning Portal.
Work cannot proceed until the respective designs have been lodged by a Registered Design Practitioner with NSW Fair Trading.
- MDA Consulting Engineers are Registered Design Practitioners for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services (Registration Number DEP0001816).
- MDA are Registered Professional Engineers (Registration Number PRE0001209).
- MDA holds Registration for Hydraulic (Building), Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (Registration Number BDC3424).

We are fully aware of the impact of our designs, many of which have undergone detailed value analysis scrutiny. We consistently aim to provide flexible and adaptable services with minimum initial cost penalty to the development.
Value management reviews and analysis are also carried out at various stages of the design process to ensure that all facets of the services systems meet or surpass industry benchmarks established for the project in terms of:
- Acquisition costs
- Operating costs
- Maintenance costs
- Appropriate use of current technology with emphasis on future technology integration
- Sustainability goals
- Impact on existing systems and infrastructure
& Quality Assurance
We are committed to providing the best quality engineering and consulting services. To ensure that we meet the highest of standards, our quality systems have been externally audited for compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management system requirements.
We have no issues with the level of documentation and services offered by MDA and would have no hesitation in reusing MDA on the next project.
Services and specifications I found to be very high standard. Your service fees were higher than most others we obtained – in some cases on par with others, however your reputation preceded and was the reason for your selection. The quality of work was then in fitting with the fees I believe.
Very satisfied with the services provided, timeframe in which completed, and high standard of documentation. Staff were courteous and responsive to our needs. We would be pleased to use MDA services again.
